Foster Truck Trail
1873 - 1999
Ramona, California
After Mussey Grade was built, the Atkinson Toll Road became known
as the Foster Truck Trail named after Joseph Foster who also ran a
stage line from the railroad terminal at his ranch to the back country
for thirty years. His coaches provided transportation from his
terminal to Ramona, Warner's and Julian. Foster became known fondly as
"Uncle Joe" and local settlers appreciated his daily mail and
passenger service.
