Tunnels of Trees

Mussey Grade Road,
Ramona, California

Two, four or six horse freight wagons and horse drawn stage coaches traveled up and down Mussey Grade Road until the 1920's when they were joined by rubber tired motor vehicles. Wagons carried products such as hay and grain, oak wood and wool to San Diego. They returned with food, ranch supplies and mining equipment. The tunnels of trees lined their route as they do ours today.
